Vote Count - State Election 2024

Qld24ElectionSummaryVotesby.jpg

As noted by Antony Green, Election Expert, in 2020 Labor won 52 seats with 53.2% of the two-party preferred vote with the LNP winning 34 seats. In 2024 it was the LNP winning 52 seats on a slightly higher 53.8% of the two-party preferred vote, while Labor finished on 36 seats. The Queensland voting public opted for a change, again.

Legalise Cannabis Queensland Party has improved their overall vote by just under three-quarters-of-a-percent, which in real terms looks like the average going up from 3.7% in 2020 to nearly 5% (4.96%) of the First Preference Vote in 2024.

With 29 Electoral Commission of Queensland Endorsed Candidates covering at least a third of the State, it was a huge task to keep track of them all! Election Night was a very exciting, if not nail-biting, evening for all concerned, right through to the close of the count. The final percentages show an outstanding 23 of the 29 candidates achieved above the magical 4.00% figure (for electoral funding). The below results are listed in order of Electorate name, with links to the Candidates Pages.

The increase in first preference votes shows that Queenslanders are keen to have cannabis legalised, like the majority of Australians with whom the Federal Government is out of step. The Legalise Cannabis Party want the police to stop wasting dwindling resources on so-called cannabis crimes so they can reduce actual crime against the community.

Governments need to invest more in hemp for biofuel—for renewable, sustainable power (second generation use for farmers)—for hempcrete for healthy, fire-proof housing—for hemp seeds and oil as a healthy source of vitamins and minerals and good fats, suitable for a wide range of modern diets including gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian.

The Federal Election must be held before 17 May 2024 and the lead Senate Candidate for Queensland, Belinda Jones, is keen to commence electioneering.
