SUZETTE LUYKEN, LEGALISE CANNABIS QUEENSLAND PARTY, COOMERA

Suzette believes every Australian should have the right to use cannabis, whether socially or medically, without facing criminalisation. She supports a fairer system for medical users, including the option to grow at home, especially for those facing financial challenges.

As a strong advocate for the hemp industry, Suzette sees the potential for job creation in agriculture and sustainable manufacturing, helping reduce our reliance on oil and plastics. Legalising cannabis is about more than just personal use; it touches on the economy, health and human rights.

Suzette is dedicated to advocating for the changes you want, focusing on important issues like the unfair roadside testing and zero tolerance for THC, which can unjustly impact drivers.

PRIORITIES FOR GOVERNMENT POLICY CHANGE AND/OR ACTION:

• Legalising cannabis needs to happen. Government is out of step with most Aussies who NOW say cannabis should not be a crime.

• Changing the drug driving laws, so people on prescribed cannabis are not discriminated against and do not become targets for police tax collectors, and have their lives ruined by loss of licence, and thus loss of independence for many chronically ill people.

• Put a stop to wasting police resources on cannabis “crimes” so they can devote more time to reducing car thefts, home break-ins and violence against the community.

• Government to have a better understanding of the vaping laws and move to have them changed to reflect the REAL issues; imported black market vapes, that are dangerous to our health because there is no regulation, being readily available to anyone who wants them.

• Government needs to invest more research into renewable power produced by biofuels such as hemp which is renewable and sustainable... and come as a second generation use for farmers.
