Marginal Labor since 2017. Hinterland, northern Gold Coast, Gaven, Nerang, Mount Nathan, Highland Park, most of Pacific Pines and Carrara, parts of Worongary. 77 square kilometres.

JENELLE PORTER is a long-standing resident of the electorate with a small rural property and has close ties to the community, through social and welfare-based contacts, having worked as a social worker and counsellor for over 30 years. She has basically lived a life of listening and advocating for others, either by expressed need or participation in programs; from people with disabilities and nursing, to eight years working in maximum security prisons.

Through her work, Jenelle developed the passionate belief that every person has an intrinsic value in this world, with many and varied experiences and opinions. She has observed the impact of the law and crime and its subsequent consequences on the community, including financial pressures, employment, health and law enforcement.

Jenelle’s goal, through the LCQ, is to create positive change and assist the community to live a better life by:
• Changing the laws to allow more affordable access to medicinal cannabis, to help with many health related issues including cancer, Parkinson's, PTSD and even arthritis.
• Freeing up the police to focus on true criminality rather than clogging the court system with cannabis use and driving offences that prevent people, even with a prescription, living a normal life. Not being able to drive to work while having a lawful script for cannabis impacts the ability to earn a living and provide for one’s family.

Opening up the hemp industry, which is heavily governed and restrictive, has the potential to bring billions of dollars into the State and create vast employment and business opportunities including hemp housing and construction, manufacturing, textiles, clothing and more.

Normalising cannabis to remove the stigma with clear, open information based on facts to enable people to consume without fear of judgement.

Having a balanced representative in government to genuinely stand for their constituents and hold the two party system accountable (essential if change is to occur).

If you change nothing then nothing changes.
